The Pukekos

"Puke" is our mascot for learning. Puke reminds the children what good learners "do" at Netherton School. The children actively learn about what these learner qualities look like at Netherton School.

These qualities are underpinned by RESPECT.

RESILIENCE

I can pick myself up and carry on
I bounce back when things don’t go my way

EXCELLENCE

I produce work to a high standard and take pride in what I do
I can apply myself to tasks which is measured through effort

SELF AWARENESS

I can identify what emotion I am experiencing and take responsibility for my actions
I am familiar with my strengths, weaknesses and what I need to work on

PERSIST

I can show persistence in my learning especially when it is challenging
I remain focused on tasks and look for ways to reach my goal even when I am stuck

EMPATHY

I understand and care about how other people are feeling
I try to see things from other people’s perspectives

COURAGE

I can be brave and strong even if I am feeling scared
I can stand up for what I know is right, even if I’m afraid and others are not standing with me

THINK

I can solve everyday problems and have strategies to help me solve these
I can ask questions and make connections
